Progress of the Restoration on Hawker Hurricane AM274
in 2006 ~
page 1:
Rolls-Royce Merlin engine re-build is making progress as can be seen in the photographs
above and below:
One day, this will be the power-plant that enables
the Hawker Hurricane AM274 to fly once more.
With only sketchy
drawings, John Norman
begins to lay out the
materials for building a
new rudder.  With any
luck, we may still be able
to find an original, but
they seem to be very few
and far between.
An original tail fin has arrived from England and has found a new home on AM274.
John spent untold hours at the mill to make a polygonal jig of proper dimensions in order
to build the four, special, double layer, center section, spar caps required for the
restoration of the Hawker Hurricane AM274.
