1932 Plymouth Transformation from a 4-door Sedan to a 2-door coupe by John Norman
In October 2002, we purchased a 1932 Plymouth 4-door sedan with the idea we would eventually find the time to do something with it! The body was in wonderful condition and looked to be a straightforward restoration project.

But John was never totally convinced that he wanted to restore this lovely old car back to its original, stock configuration. He kept thinking about ... what he could ... what he should ... what he would ... do with this vehicle! So, one day in May 2004, he decided to play around with some photographs he had taken of this automobile. He decided he would transform this dignified old car from it's former life as a 4-door sedan ... into a completely new design as a 2-door coupe! He cut and pasted the photographs (the old fashioned way ... not on the computer!) and eventually discovered a style he liked. He came up with this design that is quite pleasing to the eye of any 'rat rod' enthusiast! From there, he grabbed the torch and began cutting this once elegant, functional, family vehicle into unrecognizable pieces... and then began welding them all back together again to end up with this sweet, little coupe!

John had to fabricate this trunk lid since the original sedan did not have one!

John was able to work on this new creation a bit at a time in between other more pressing projects. The photos above were what she looked like in March of 2008.

By June 2009 John has new lightly tinted, blue glass installed all the way around, new tail lights mounted and wired, and a license plate frame in place to hold the new license plate.

John has built a basic dashboard for the coupe and added a stereo system as well.
