As John has done with all his other projects in the past, this will be another 'ground up' restoration.

He begins with a detailed inspection of the fuselage tubing, making appropriate repairs where they are needed.

He then primes the entire fuselage …

and attaches the wooden stringers where they are needed on the fuselage. …

He restored the original instrument panel, installed the control sticks, the seat and made a new canvas Stow bin that is located behind the rear seat.

He has collected instruments for the restored instrument panel.

John cut out a new set of floorboards.

And John installed the Tail Wheel on the fuselage.

In less than one month, on a dry, sunny day, John moves the Cub outside.
With the new floorboards installed …

John begins to put the fabric on the interior fuselage.

The next day he is able to apply the silver on the fabric he installed.

On 21 March 2010 John gets the fabric on the exterior of the aircraft.

A week later, John is able to dope the fabric …

and later the same day, he is able to get the silver on.

In May, John gets the interior painted the classic Cub Yellow.

The instrument panel is black and instruments installed …

… and the paint goes on the exterior as well.

No Cub is complete when painted the classic Cub Yellow, until it gets the black “Thunderbolt” …

… or the Cub decal on the tail!

John stopped on the cub for about a year, but by February of 2011, it had a new engine in place.

John purchased a new windshield for the cub and has it just sitting in place for now.

Later in the year John ordered the wood he needed to make new wing spars for the Cub.

For the time being, the Cub is keeping good company in the shop with John’s ‘Rat Rod’ and The Hawker Hurricane AM 274.
John will sell this little Cub in its current condition for $19,000.00
