1946 Taylorcraft BC12-D
restored by John Norman
This is one of two Taylorcraft BC12-D projects that found their way to JNE Aircraft Restoration
Services in April 2007.

John Norman has begun this 'ground up' restoration.  He starts with a detailed inspection of the
fuselage tubing, applying new primer and paint then replacing all the wooden structure.
He restored the instrument panel to a 'like new' condition, and reinstalled most of the instruments.
John has cleaned, inspected, repaired, and applied primer to the wing parts ... including two wing
tanks, in preparation for re-assembly on brand new spars.
The engine has been totally rebuilt and is back on the engine mount.
John Norman has now reassembled the wing ribs on the new spars.
In the Summer of 2008, we were contacted by a gentleman who, with his father, had owned this
very Taylorcraft when he was just 15 years of age.  He had convinced his father to go in with him to
purchase the aircraft, and had learned to fly in this very bird!!  We spent an enjoyable afternoon with
him as he shared old photographs of this airplane and told us stories of his early years flying!
By November 2008 the wings are back on the fuselage, with brand new wing-struts.
She is also sporting a rebuilt cowling, the door, and recently covered tail-feathers!
Inside ~ this lovely little bird now has her control yokes, and much of the rigging in place ...
Late June 2009, John has built a new engine cowling for this little bird ...
The leading edge is now in place on both new wings, and the starboard wing tank is in place ...
Late in January 2010, this little bird was purchased by a gentleman from Wisconsin.  We spent a
couple of days getting it all disassembled and loaded into a trailer for the journey to her new home!
Perhaps one day we will get photographs to show its progress and final restoration completion!
